Even diehard fans of the Twilight Saga may wish to skip this one. Although Meyer adds some nice touches–the narrator is herself a vampire, for example–critics had few positive things to say about Bree’s life story. „Intelligent and gifted, Bella, Jacob and Edward are intrinsically glamorous to readers,“ Salon notes. „But Bree is PVT (poor vampire trash) and she knows it.

“ While Bree could have been interesting, she’s less than the „wild, amoral, bloodthirsty teen protagonist“ (Guardian) critics hoped to see; clunky prose and dialogue don’t help. Still, the Washington Post speaks for many readers: „The satisfaction of Twilight novels cannot be measured by such terms as ‘good‘ and ‘bad.‘ … [A]ll fans will read and all haters will skip [this novella] regardless of the reviews.“

Vampire, Tod, Kampf, Verwandlung, Jungvampire

I have to complain directly to the beginning, unfortunately, because the reader learns nothing about Bree’s life as a human person. The onset is abrupt and the plot begins simply. This is a shame, because even after the brief appearance of Brees in third part , I knew very little about them and their appearance, if it has been described is, escapes me. Only later comes to her past and transformation language.

From this spin-off I did not expect to learn something new about the Volturis, the Cullens, Victoria and her clan. But as Bree and follow their clan leaders Diego Riley, they learn a few juicy details. Later, you can see a lot of new readers from the eyes of Bree’s what was otherwise a rather hidden or is not noticed. To criticize is that the real fight is over so quickly that there is not much noticing. The long time in the House that the clan leaders worried Riley has delivered more impressions than a few seconds of this fight.

Who was expected to produce a half so beautiful love story between Bree and Diego as with Edward and Bella will be disappointed. Bree Diego and get to know in a few days, durcschauen Riley, but that’s about it. One morning he will not return, but Riley assures Bree that he had been sent only to reconnoitre. Later, Bree is clear that Victoria and Riley have killed him.

I like Stephenie Meyers very smart but captivating writing style.

This story is personally told by Bree.

Bree Tanner is one of the young vampires in Twilight, which was „born“ attack the Cullens and Bella.

I like the original cover very much, because it fits perfectly to the content of this book. Bree Tanner has not much time on earth and this is reflected by the hourglass. I think this perfectly fits to the previous Twilight Series Covers. Especially this hourglass in blood red.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is worth reading. This sweet and sad little story about a minor character from Twilight caught my attention really soon. Bree Tanners short life is sad but interesting, because this story is like a behind-the-scene sequel.
